EagleTec EA-COM16, structured light 3D scanner, is a CNC accessory product especially developed for industrial design field including 3D modeling service, statue carving, furniture making, rapid automotive prototyping, reverse engineering and more. The scanning scope can be freely adjusted according to the production needs. From small parts to large object such as big car body, all can be perfectly scanned by EA-COM16 structured light 3D scanner here.
A: Based on structured light triangulation, the output scanned model is in the format of ***.stl, which is consisted of thousands of triangles.
A: We can do it in the Geomagic Studio software. It can be done simply by performing the “distance” order under the “Analysis” column. Please refer to the following picture:
A: Before making the toolpath, we need to complete simple patching work. There will be several holes in the scanned model, what we need to do is to patch them in the software Geomagic Studio (we will provide it along with the scanner). And next, the model can be imported into CAM software (ArtCAM, MasterCAM, PowerMill, or JD Paint) to create the CNC machining toolpath (usually known as G code).
A computer with a higher configuration will work better. Following is the suggested configuration:
● CPU should be INTEL CORE-I7 processors or higher
● Memory should be 16G or more
● HD should be 500G or more
● The Graphics card should be NVIDIA GTX series Discrete Graphics Card or a higher level dedicated for 3D design application.
● There should be two pieces of VGA ports: one is for the monitor and the other one for the 3D scanner.
● The computer system should be Windows 7 or 10, both 32-bit and 64-bit are ok.
A: In fact, you can only import the scanned STL model in AutoCAD, but it is not editable there. If you are experienced in reverse engineering, you can convert the STL into an appropriate format that can be edited in AutoCAD. This process requires professional skills to complete.
A: Full set of most specific tutorials (in English) from hardware to software will be provided to you along with your scanner. Simply follow the instructions step by step, you will probably start it yourself; and if still have a kind of confusion after check the tutorials, our skilled technicians are ready to answer any questions and guide you out the confusion.
